Episode 9: Human Sacrifice, sounds... fun! ... on the steps of the Temple of the Great Jaguar ...
Sandy: What a season of Shipwrecked it has been... we are on the verge of the final challenge, where one iSurv1vor Alumni will walk away with $500,000... but first, let's take a look back at home the remaining contestants avoided being sacrificed.Kirin: Aaron, the first person to reach the finals, was the winner of the first Skull Challenge. Aaron stood on a pole, holding his weight on his back, for 2 hours and 30 minutes. Determination and perseverance to the fullest. Aaron was a strong competitor for the duration of the season that he was a part of. After winning the first Skull Challenge, he was transported to the resort huts located behind the temples to live out the rest of the game. Was this R and R enough of a rejuvenation for Aaron to become the second winner of Shipwrecked? Aaron: I always come in second... for once, I just want to win. I think I have a good shot... Sandy: Jared made it to the finals due to a Shipwrecked Combo Special. A Bahlam Idol and being awarded a Skull by his peers. Jared guaranteed himself a spot in the finals when he found the Bahlam Idol but his peers used that to their advantage later in the game. When the alumni found out they were going to award someone a skull via public vote, Dru took this opportunity to get Jared a skull. Once Jared had the skull, he was in the finals of Shipwrecked and no longer needed the Bahlam Idol. Before leaving for the resort hut, Jared gave the idol to Dru, a dominant competitor this season, ensuring that Dru would be in the finals as well, if he didn't need to use the Bahlam Idol before the final challenge. Jared: A lot of good things happened to me out here this season. I won the Bahlam Idol, my peers gave me a skull... all that is left is for me to win $500,000!
Dru: One could argue that I weaseled my way into the finale but let's be honest.. if I didn't receive this idol from Jared, I would have just won challenges to get here. I dominated this season and I can't wait to dominate this final challenge. Kirin: And then there was Alyxxx; the last girl standing. Win or lose this final challenge, she is a winner in my eyes and the eyes of the viewer I am sure. She outlasted a lot of strong females including Audrey, Julie and Penny. I don't think she gives herself enough credit for her performance but she did well enough this season to make it to the end and that is something to be proud of.Alyx: I am for sure out of my element here people... I don't know how I lasted this long. I had a lot of good partners for partner challenges and other people messed up more that I did... I think that is really what got me here... here goes nothing, America.
Kirin: And so I may be a little bias but up next, we have Joe Purcell. Love him! Joe returned to us this season for a shot at redemption after he quit the first season of Shipwrecked. After losing to Animal in iSurv1vor India, Joe still a bitter taste in his mouth. On the first season of Shipwrecked, when Tucker used the Amulet of Ganesh on Animal, Joe Purcell quit the game. Joe complained that everyone was all about ANIMAL, ANIMAL, ANIMAL! This season though, Joe came back to play the game and America what kind of player he really was. Despite being injured on the Capture the Flag Challenge, Joe remained in the game and a fierce competitor. A true story arc of redemption this season with Joe Purcell, which could only end with a victory.
Joe: My hand still hurts... I would show you but production says it's too gross to look at yet they can sit around and talk about d!ck pics ... anywho... one final challenge, one final shot at redemption. Here's hoping I don't have to use my hand.Sandy: Lastly, one of the most genuine players of the game, Gabe Cohen. Gabe was an early boot last season; so early production forgot he was on season 1 and brought him back for season 2...but we told him it was to break his first boot curse! Sorry Gabe. Unlike previous performance, Gabe was a challenge beast this season. Dru and Gabe worked very well together on two challenges to ensure they would be remain in the game, while being a force to be reckoned with on his own as well. I think this trip to Belize may have brought out the inner challenge beast in Gabe! I am looking forward to seeing him play iSurv1vor again with this new found confidence. Gabe: $500,000 would be amazing and the confidence boost would be just as helpful. I feel like I grew out here as a person, so I can only hope to win and continue growing. This has been an amazing experience that I will never forget...... Sandy brings the final 6 together ... Sandy: It is time for your final challenge. Kirin: Today, we honor every God of the Mayan Society with today's challenge. Sandy: This is the capstone challenge of the season and it is entitled HUMAN SACRIFICE.Alyx: We are told the name of the final challenge... Human Sacrifice, sounds... fun! Kirin: Throughout this game, your fellow cast members have been sacrificed to the Gods. Tonight, you will be sacrificing each other in order to obtain victory. Sandy: No worries, no one is in any physical harm... Kirin: In the jungle behind me, there are 6 stakes representing you, the final 6. On that stake are 5 skulls with your name on them. When Sandy says go, you will race into the jungle looking for the stakes of your opponents. When you find a stake, that belongs to one of your opponents, you are going to remove one of their skulls. Sandy: This is where things will get complicated. In order to win Shipwrecked, Season 2... you must throw the five skulls of your opponents into the Temple of the Great Jaguar.Dru: Endurance. I can handle this. Gabe is fast too... I feel like this will be a victory for either Gabe or I.Joe: I have to run all the way up those steps?Sandy: Yes. You can either collect ONE skull at a time and make your way to the temple entrance and make your deposit or you can wait until you have all FIVE of your skulls and then make your deposit and claim victory. The choice is yours. Alyx: This is def. not a challenge made for me... but I am going to find all five of them skulls and then make my way up them there steps!Sandy: Everyone get into position by the base of the temple. You can each grab a satchel if you'd like to use one during the challenge, the choice is yours. It is now time for your final challenge of Shipwrecked, Season 2... ... 30 minutes later at the top of the temple ...
Male Voice: 2n skull, thats Alyx. 3rd skull thats Dru, 4th Skull thats Gabe, 5h skull for Aaron. I think I just won... ... Sandy, from the top of the temple ...
Sandy: The winner... of Shipwrecked, Season 2...
JOE PURCELL Kirin: YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH , Joe Purcell. tell me how it feels to win after quitting last season. Joe Purcell: I just took my time on this challenge and I didnt go to fast and I didnt go to slow. I found 2 skulls one skull and I dropped that off and I said, damn, I cant keep climbing this steps, so I found all the rest, while everyone else seemed to be collecting one at a time... and I think that made all the difference in the world. Sandy: Joe Purcell... I am happy for you buddy. I do love a true redemption storyline arc. You overcame last seasons drama and an injury this season to come back and show America what kind of player you really are. Congrats. Joe: Thanks, Sandy. I appreciate it. $500,000... man, wonder how long that will keep me out of the coffee shop? Kirin: hahaha. I need to remember that for my JPQOTD file!!!!!... Sandy turns to the camera ... Sandy: The element of surprise is gone from Shipwrecked, as season 1 aired while we were filming season 2... the element of surprise may be gone but the game still remains the same. Next season, 20 Shipwrecked alumni will get another shot at winning when they find themselves shipwrecked off the coast of South Africa with nothing but a box of instructions. How will going into the game knowing what to expect impact the game? How will not having any host impact the game? Who will be a leader? Who will be a follower? Who will be crowned the winner of Shipwrecked, Season 3... Prince Edward Island.
