I wish I had a chance to post more in here, but it's hard just because I'm always preparing challenges/TC, recording calls, or doing other things for the game and I never have the time and just sit and post thoughts! But I'll do a quick version right now.
Love this final 5 soooo much. Cristina got off to a strong start in this game with all the rocks, but now it seems like she kind of is just following Jacob and Hodges. From my perspective, she felt kind of defeated after the Vic blindside and wasn't too interested in making many moves. Even though she contemplated flipping a couple times, she just really seems to enjoy her friendship with Jacob and Hodges which she is using as justification for sticking with them. It's the usual dilemma that many iSurv1vors seem to face; friendship or winning? Had she flipped at final 7, if she found a way to the finals, I think she could have won. But that being said, making the finals in a final 4 with a tight group of 3 would have been tough. Last round, had she forced rocks, she would have won a lot of jury support, but probably would have lost some too with backstabbing her 3 allies. Either way, she would have upset someone. She really disappointed the jury last night, and now it seems that none of them want to vote for her to win- not even Vic.
Joanne is the last person from the "other alliance." I think she has an amazing story and I would not be disappointed at all if she won. She's been quiet, but strategic. When things didn't go her way, she's been able to pull it together and keep pushing forward. She's lost almost everyone she has been close to throughout this game, but has managed to stay tough and hasn't given up yet. On a personal level, she has experienced some tough tragedies in her life combined with one of her best moments, getting engaged, all throughout this game. She has really come to love the iSurv1vor community and I think that's so amazing. I think she has really put her heart into this game even though she'll really have to fight to get there, I think she could still win this game. The jury seems to really respect her, and I definitely think that if she can make the finals, she could put up a great argument at the end. She just really has to play her cards right in order to get there.
Then there's Hodges. He had two super close calls back on Les Cayes where he almost went home, but he made it through. When the absorption came, he found himself in possibly the best position in this game. He didn't abuse his power, as he carefully positioned himself between both Liberté and Jacmel. After meeting everyone, he decided that Jacob was who he wanted to truly work with. That's when he picked his side and stuck to it. He's played loyal but sneaky at the same time. He's quiet nature has allowed him to stealthily play key roles in many of the eliminations up to this point. His story of the Les Cayes underdog has been impressive and him winning would make for an incredible ending.
Let's take a moment to see that these 3 people were recruited from iSurv1vor Venezuela alum, and it's all 3 of their first time playing an ORG. Their first game ever was probably one of the toughest, most grueling, and most time consuming. They've all done amazing.
Now for Derek. Derek is young at 18, but incredibly smart. He's been playing hard from day 1. He was on the outs of Jacmel but managed to wiggle himself in a good position just in time for the absorption. He has always been that guy that everyone has had their eye on, but yet he has manage to slip by round after round. Every round, people have talked about how he's such a threat and needs to go, but somehow someone else always became a target before him. Then came his huge slip up of posting a rather revealing confessional in the Tribal Council thread. Everyone saw it, but yet, he got through it and is still here. However, it seems like now the time has finally come where he won't be able to delay his elimination any longer. As of right now, I am thinking he's going to be the next Glory Spot holder. He would be an amazing and well deserving Glory Spot, and I would absolutely love that. At this point, the only way he can win the game is by going on an immunity run. He's too big of a threat to keep in any longer, and everyone sees it. But if he does somehow win all the remaining challenges and makes the finals, I think he has a great shot at winning the game and I think he would be an amazing winner.
And finally, Jacob Harpel. He came into this game just being himself- kind, funny, light-hearted and tons of fun. He was in a great position on Liberté. Even while his whole tribe was being super lovey-dovey, he was always thinking strategically. He observed all of Taylor's mistakes, and as soon as he realized that Jessica Frey was on the outs, he took her under his wing. Once the absorption came, Jacob started playing hard. He backstabbed Jared, and then was the main person steering the Vic blindside. Even after losing his biggest ally Jessica Frey, Jacob has still been in control. Even after Nikki blowing up his whole game, his relationships with Hodges and Cristina were so strong that whatever Nikki said didn't even matter. Jacob has controlled such a big portion of this game, but he has managed to do it in a way that's not cocky, arrogant, condescending or rude. He just realizes that it's just a game, but at the end of the day he's still the most kind-hearted, genuine, and charming guy who just wants to win iSurv1vor! He's so amazing, literally every day I just love him more and more. Jacob is definitely on his way to winning this season and I think he would be a more than amazing winner.
But it's not over yet. It's final 5 and still, anything can happen. I can't wait to see how it all plays out!
